Sharon with "Chloe"

Sue has an innate ability to read a dog’s character and understand his/her needs when training….

After meeting my extremely fearful puppy she instinctively knew how to build her confidence making it easier to teach her basic obedience skills.

Sue truly loves your puppy like it’s her own and spends a lot of time training and

exposing him/her to everything from animals on her farm to excursions to hardware

stores, restaurants, parks, shopping malls etc. One of the best things is that Sue videos

everything and explains what she is doing on the recordings. This gives you reference

to practice what she has taught your pup at home and it’s always fun to see what your

puppy is doing while with her! She takes a special interest in your pup and welcomes

any questions you may have when your puppy leaves her ranch. Puppy training comes naturally to her and it shows!

Lindsay and Jordan with "I'likea"

I cannot speak highly enough of the experience I had with Sue doing the 5-week board and train program for my Dogo Argentino puppy. I was worried that my little firecracker of a pup might be a handful, but Sue is a famed animal trainer and it shows in every aspect of her work. Sue’s undeniable expertise, calm presence, and deep understanding of animal behavior were apparent immediately. She earned my complete confidence and I knew my pup was in the best hands possible.

Over the course of the training program, she laid an incredible foundation for my puppy

including exposure to people and animals, getting used to loud noises, learning to be

calm in public, and even swimming lessons! Not to mention other essential training

like getting comfortable in the crate, getting on a potty schedule, doing nail trims, and

learning how to just chill out and settle.

Sue not only trained our pup but also my husband and I as her handlers, giving us the

tools we needed to manage her big emotions without dampening her personality, while also discovering strengths we didn’t yet recognize in her.

Before dropping off my puppy, I was overwhelmed and anxious, feeling like I was failing my dog and fearing what the years to come would look like. After Sue’s training, I feel like I have my life back again and am elated to have this special language with my dog where we can communicate and enjoy life together. Because of Sue, I have such a positive bond with my pup that grows every day. This was hands-down one of the best decisions I could have made for my dog's future that will surely serve us for years to come.

Don with "Vin"

Sue provided foundational training for my Labradoodle/Portuguese Water Dog mix, Vin.

The time and training Sue provided Vin has indelibly benefited him and me on a daily basis. I can say, without hesitation, that her training has made the most challenging aspects of dog ownership a breeze. I met Sue at work on a movie set where she coordinated all thing animal at a very high professional level. Her work with dogs, cats, mules, and horses (to name just a few) has made her the “go to” animal wrangler in Hawaii. So, when pondering training for Vin when he was very young, my first thought was Sue.  I wasn’t really looking for the highly technical training that Sue provides for movie and streaming shows. Instead, I wanted to retain Vin’s lovable personality while providing him with what people call “good manners”. Vin and I got that and a lot more. Sue, took great care in teaching Vin the basics of recall and walking on a leash. However, the super helpful payoff came from Sue’s time and effort spent in exposing Vin to the kinds of environmental

stimulations he’d face in the real world. She lead him around her ranch where Vin saw goats,

horses, chickens and myriad other animals while coaching his reactions to these new friends.

This came in very handy the first time he saw a squirrel in Georgia…he merely gazed in

curiosity while continuing his walk. Sue, also took Vin to a gun range to expose him, at a

safe distance to the “POP POP!!’’ of a gun’s report. If you live in Hawai’i, you know what

it’s like on New Years Eve and the 4th of July.  Vin sleeps through all of that, no doubt due

to Sue’s conditioning.

Sue’s instruction is not confined to four legged animals. She will also, upon request, happily help owners (like me) navigate the challenges of rearing pets, companions, and service animals. Take advantage of her willingness to train you to train them. Big payoffs will follow.

In closing, I’ll say again, that if you need someone to help train an animal of virtually any kind (Yes, I’ve seen her train even Mules), Sue should be your first call.

Katie Jurgensen - service dog trainer/owner of: Aloha K9 Training

Sue Chipperton is undeniably one of the top trainers on Oahu. Her puppy program is expertly crafted to help new puppy parents establish a strong foundation essential for their young pups. As a service dog trainer on Oahu, I often recommend that clients with new service dog prospects participate in Sue’s program before they begin training with me. This foundation is crucial for their future success in their roles.

The early stages of a puppy's life are vital, and Sue’s program is the perfect way to set your new dog up for success. I particularly appreciate how the program includes daily videos showcasing the puppy’s learning journey, allowing owners to see how Sue trains their dog and easily replicate those techniques at home. Choosing the right trainer for your puppy is a crucial decision, and you won't regret selecting Sue.

PUPPY BOARD & TRAIN LONG TERM with "Dory"

Dad wanted another dog.  Mom wasn’t sure she could handle the training, especially the early days. I couldn’t help because I was out of town for work.  They’re both in their 80s and the task seemed daunting.  Enter Super Sue.

At 8 weeks old, we handed over our precious wriggling bundle of joy, Dory for 6 months.

We asked that she be house-broken, leash trained, and basic training commands. From the beginning we knew we had made the right decision. Sue sent us weekly videos via FB explaining the process of each new thing she was teaching our pup.  IT was amazing watching the progress Dory was making.  She spent hours and days repeating, reinforcing and ultimately making commands ingrained.  All with a firm but loving hand.

Dory came to us at 8 months old, an amazingly well trained dog. Sit, down, stay,

come, fetch, wait, speak, and good leash-walking.  All the basics, and then some.

At no time did I ever feel like she was mishandled or mistreated.  She loves Sue.

We were a bit concerned about her bonding with us, having spent so many formative

months away from us.  We needed not have been worried.  Our sweet, wriggling, loving puppy fell right into our daily routine without missing a step.  Yes, she loves Sue when she sees her, but Dory knows her people, and her people are Mom and Dad.

I highly recommend Sue as a long-term-boarding-training option.  Yes, it’s expensive, but the end result is priceless.

Iris with "Laka"

From a 12 week old GSD puppy that wanted to bite everything, including hands and feet, our puppy has become a puppy who can heel nicely, due to the excellent training that Sue did.  Sue took our puppy Laka into her board and train program, taught her boundaries and gave her an exposure to many things, including other dogs, cats, cows, ducks, swimming, stores and more; which is critical to do in those first 4 months of a puppy’s life.

Sue worked with Laka multiple times a day in different training sessions,

and her puppy training encompassed much more than other puppy training

courses.  She worked with Laka on sit, down, heeling, helping her to not become

a reactive dog, prepping for vet visits, staying in place and agility courses.

Sue truly understands how puppies think and play, making her training highly successful.

The best part is that Sue will send you videos detailing what she is doing.  This not only allows you to keep up with the puppy’s progress, but it also teaches you how to continue the great work that Sue started.

Thank you Sue, for giving Laka a great foundation and start in life!

Deanna Nieves - dog trainer/owner Hawaii Dog Training Services

As a dog trainer myself, I understand how important proper early socialization is to a puppy's long-term well-being. This is why I refer all of my puppy clients to Sue Chipperton. Her techniques for developing engagement, building confidence, and shaping behavior using positive reinforcement, allow a puppy to reach its highest potential. Sue is without question the best puppy trainer on Oahu, and will give owners the skills necessary to continue building upon the foundation she lays in her training program.

Wendla with "Sykes"

Please consider Sue Chipperton as your trainer for your dog.

I have worked with Sue over the last 6 months with training my

Jack Russell puppy.   She began with him when he was10 weeks.  He initially stayed at her home for two weeks. At our first meeting we formulated a training plan and Sue is very knowledgeable about the training process.  He has been back for several one week stays with Sue to work on reinforcing his training/commands.  These follow-up sessions have been a tremendous help in reinforcing his training as well as my working with him since I live in an apartment complex.  Sue provides videos of the training sessions as well as written instructions so I have a reference of the process.  Most importantly she treats my dog with respect and patience in a safe learning environment.

Kristen Davis - dog trainer/owner of: Oahu Dog Training

Sue is a phenomenal trainer. I am another Oahu-based dog trainer, so I am extremely picky with who I trust enough to refer people out too - and Sue is one of my picks. I have had the opportunity to watch her train numerous times so I am able to fully endorse her training practices and abilities. In fact, I’ve learned a lot from watching her train, also. When it comes to puppy training, she is my go-to referral. Her experience, expertise, and tangible results for her puppy clients are unparalleled on island in my opinion. I will continue to refer all my puppy clients to her since it’s not my speciality and I know they will get amazing exposure and training with her. I will also add that she is one of 2 people on island that I trust to board my own dogs when I travel - perhaps the best review I can give to a fellow trainer.

Jenna Oda - dog trainer/owner of Alaka'i K9

There are very few trainers who have the knowledge and experience that Sue has. Each dog I have seen her train is so eager to try everything she shows them without fear. A true testament to the trust and love they have for her. As a fellow dog trainer, Sue will always be one of my top trainers I refer puppy owners to. She is the lifeline to a world of love, fun, enjoyment, and adventures for you and your pup.
